A current player thread contains mutually inconsistent explanations of “full foil set.” That disagreement is a reason to use the in-game visual state and Steam unlock, not a reason to choose one comment as a hidden rule.
A True Fan checklist
- Choose one complete 10-card color set as the first working queue.
- Mark a foil only when the game visibly presents the copy as foil.
- Keep base-set completion, stars or quality, and foil progress separate.
- Use both documented acquisition routes: cereal boxes and eligible three-copy same-Quality Level Up exchanges.
- Preserve the current card collection in a separate manual save before a long foil run.
- Wait for the A True Fan Steam notification; if it does not appear, capture the set, version, and save slot before reporting it.
What counts as a full foil set in KOTAMON?
Steam does not publish a precise definition. One complete color set is a reasonable interpretation because a separate achievement asks for all foil cards, but the unlock notification remains the final answer.
Does five-star quality unlock A True Fan?
Do not assume quality and foil are the same. Track a copy as foil only when the game visibly identifies it as one.
Can card Level Up produce a foil?
Yes. The August 27 official update says a higher-Quality Level Up result can be foil, but it gives no odds or guarantee.
Does Kotalion count for A True Fan?
The public achievement description does not state whether Kotalion belongs to this counter.
