October 1: a returning collector’s checklist
- Compare the in-game price before using automatic cleaning or gluing. Gluing cost depends on rarity and quality.
- Check your displayed figurines for stat bonuses and store discounts.
- For a compactor throw bonus, meet both conditions: at least 10 m and a bag more than half-full.
- Open the compactor’s side screen for Gallery of Trash. Counters begin with this update.
- Look for Brawler and the dedicated Limited set. The announcement adds 20+ cards, including seven limited cards.
Collect loose valuables before asking for more trash: the bulldozer can mix them into new piles. The future optional autumn-theme switch has no exact release date.
September 5: infinite loading, crashes, and broken-save beta
The developer says the cause appears to have been found and fixed, while explicitly leaving the result open to testing. The announcement addresses both players who have never reached the game and players whose game later crashed or stopped loading.
The public Steam beta code is KotaMotaBetaTest. Use it under Properties → Game Versions and Betas → Hidden Versions, choose Check Code, and select betatest. Copy the whole save folder before launching the downloaded test build.
A successful save load would not, by itself, show that missing upgrades or collectibles were restored. The post also does not announce the planned new cards or cosplays.
September 1: KOTAMON Steam Trading Cards are live
The developer says Steam approved KOTAMON cards and badges. The official Steam Community Market now returns KOTAMON Trading Cards and other Community Items, so the earlier “submitted for approval” status is no longer current.
Valve’s Trading Cards FAQ says participating games award drops during playtime, independent of in-game achievements. Finding a specific card in trash, completing a binder set, or earning a KOTAMON achievement is therefore not a documented requirement for a Steam card drop.
Earlier gameplay patch: August 27
The developer’s published update confirms the three-copy same-Quality card Level Up system, possible foil results, binder upgrade indicators, Kotalion’s permanent no-sell state, cross-save achievement-counter fixes, cosplay fixes, and cereal-box shop fixes.
It does not publish foil odds, collectible drop percentages, a universal save-recovery procedure, or an infinite-loading fix.

The September 1 plan is now a released autumn update
The September 1 announcement says the team is preparing a large free update with quality-of-life improvements, new cards, and new cosplays. It does not give an exact release date, final card count, feature list, or location details.
The October 1 announcement supplies that later release confirmation. Its 20+ new cards include seven limited cards, with Brawler and a dedicated Limited set; the old 40 + Kotalion checklist is a legacy subset, not the complete autumn collection.
What changed since the September 1 startup investigation?
On September 1, the team had not definitely found and eliminated the startup cause. The September 5 post advances that status to a fix candidate available for testing. It does not publish the technical root cause or confirm that all affected players are now able to load.
Keep an untouched backup and record whether the beta fixes first launch, a crash, or a particular save. The loading guide includes the official instructions and older reversible checks if the beta does not help.
What about the 459.3 MB download?
The Steam discussion titled “New Update of 459.3 MB without info” was posted on August 27. Because its timestamp aligns with the official August 27 announcement, it does not support a claim that a separate update shipped on August 30.
The September 5 beta is documented by its own later announcement. A download size from the August 27 discussion does not identify that test build or prove that the default branch received it.
Collection issues reported after the patch
These are player reports and requests, not additional official patch notes. None establishes a new release date or a developer-confirmed fix.
- Extra cards missing after Level Up: an August 29 report describes an unused fourth copy disappearing. Compare the result with the normal three-for-one cost and preserve a pre-merge backup.
- Seven visible tapes but a 6/7 clipboard: an August 30 follow-up reports the clipboard reaching 7/7 after another pickup. Check physical display, in-game count and Steam status separately.
- Card Cleaner and Card Assembler: an August 30 discussion proposes these upgrades. The suggested prices and unlock milestones are not official requirements.
