KOTAMON Cosplay Outfits

Search repeat trash heaps for rare cosplay cases, secure each case before the heap changes, and keep cycling until Steam records all three outfits.

Fast answerThere is no fixed three-pin location route. Cases come from trash-heap cycles. The August 22 update increased their chance, and the August 27 update fixed that chance again; neither publishes odds or a guaranteed cycle.
Current reports — September 4A current player reports finding only one cosplay case after a long card-and-foil run. Replies describe much shorter and much longer waits. This confirms that players are still encountering the symptom after the August 27 update, but it does not prove a shared bug, a regression, or a fixed maximum number of heaps.

How to find all three cosplay outfits

  1. Update KOTAMON, load the intended slot, and create a separate manual save before beginning a long collectible run.
  2. Open one trash heap and clear it from top to bottom, watching for a suitcase or chest-like cosplay case among the loose objects.
  3. Pick up the case immediately. Current players warn against leaving it loose while triggering another scene or heap.
  4. Take the case to Jenny before requesting more trash, then check for the Steam achievement notification.
  5. Sweep the remaining ground for cards, tapes, figurines, cereal boxes, and fragments.
  6. Request another heap and repeat until the one-outfit and three-outfit milestones unlock.
No guaranteed heap numberCurrent reports range from an early third case to 10–15 piles with no new case. Those observations conflict, so “third round” or “seven lots” is not a dependable trigger.

Already found one or two, but not the third?

SituationSafest next action
No case after several heapsKeep complete cycles and record the game version; no published pity counter makes a specific pile a failure point.
Case appearsStop the heap routine, collect it, and take it to Jenny before changing the world state.
Case disappearedPreserve the current slot. If you already have a separate save from before the find, reload that copy rather than overwriting both.
Three outfits visible but no Steam unlockCapture the outfit state and version, restart Steam once, load the intended manual slot, and report the exact current-build mismatch.

One player reports a missed outfit returning in a later heap, while another suggests reloading before heap generation. Neither is an official recovery guarantee. The lowest-risk habit is collecting the case immediately and keeping a manual save outside the active test.

Where does Jenny show an unlocked outfit?

The unlock is presented in its dedicated Jenny scene. Current players asking to keep the costume visible in the Upgrade Menu describe that behavior as a missing wardrobe feature, so do not use the normal upgrade screen as the only check for whether an outfit counted.

Use the Steam achievement notification and the game’s costume counter for progress. The three-outfit Steam milestone is not proof that the full costume counter is complete.

Cosplay outfit FAQ

How many cosplay outfits do I need for the achievements?

Steam requires one found outfit for A Gift for Jenny and three for To Be Continued… . A current completion thread displays a five-slot costume counter, so three is the achievement target—not a confirmed total wardrobe size.

Where are the KOTAMON cosplay cases?

Current players find cases while clearing repeat trash heaps. No official fixed map locations, spawn percentage, guaranteed heap number, or pity counter is published.

Why can’t I find the third cosplay outfit?

The wait varies widely between current player reports. Continue complete heap cycles, pick up every case immediately, and do not treat another player’s third or seventh yard cycle as a fixed trigger.

Is the cosplay drop bugged again?

Current players still report very different waits after the August 27 fix, but those reports do not prove one shared bug or a confirmed regression. Record the current build and exact symptom instead of assuming a fixed number of heaps.

Can a cosplay case disappear?

Current players report loose cases disappearing after a scene or heap change. Keep a separate manual save and take the case to Jenny before opening another heap.

Can Jenny wear unlocked cosplay outfits in the Upgrade Menu?

Current players describe the outfit appearing in its dedicated presentation scene rather than remaining visible in the Upgrade Menu. A persistent wardrobe toggle is a player feature request, not a current menu option.

Did KOTAMON increase the cosplay case chance?

The August 22 update increased the chance, and the August 27 update says the drop chance was fixed again. Neither note gives a percentage, pity counter, or guaranteed heap number.

Why did the cosplay menu freeze?

The August 27 update lists a fix for the cosplay window freezing when exiting the menu. Install the current build before reporting a repeat case.
